Developed specifically for the utilities sector, the ecoNOMY® system is the UK’s leading modular valve chamber system. As a specialist valve chamber manufacturer, we engineered these high-strength, 100% recycled composite sections to solve the logistical challenges of traditional concrete. With over 5 million units installed across the UK water utility network, ecoNOMY® is the industry standard for durability, providing an environmentally friendly solution for valve, hydrant, and meter applications that can be supplied with our range of ductile iron or composite surface boxes.

Key Benefits

Why Choose a Modular System?

Unlike heavy pre-cast concrete, our modular hydrant chamber system for fire safety and utility applications allows for rapid onsite assembly through a precision-engineered, interlocking ring design. This modularity ensures chambers are built to exact depth requirements in minutes, utilizing a rebated top that positively engages with the section below for maximum structural stability. Because the composite material is significantly lighter than traditional masonry, it eliminates the need for heavy lifting equipment and minimizes health and safety risks for site personnel. Furthermore, the material allows for easy onsite drilling or adaptation around existing services, while remaining fire-safety ready and specifically engineered to house hydrants and wash-out valves with clear-opening sizes that meet all UK fire service standards.

Pricing, Value & Sustainability

When evaluating valve chamber price, it is essential to consider the “installed cost” savings. The ecoNOMY® system reduces labor costs via lightweight sections (under 25kg) that permit single-person lifts and eliminate the need for heavy machinery. Furthermore, because our 100% recycled PVC does not crack like brittle concrete, you eliminate the cost of transit breakages. This provides a high-value, durable solution that aligns perfectly with green procurement targets and long-term infrastructure budgets.

Technical Specifications & D400 Load Ratings

As a specialist valve chamber manufacturer, we ensure our systems provide high-performance durability. All units are independently tested to BSEN124:2015 D400 loadings, making them suitable for 40-tonne wheel loads in highways and trunk roads. The range covers SV Chambers (150mm–230mm) for sluice valves, Standard Chambers (380mm–600mm) for hydrants and meters, and bespoke EasyPIT® Ultra options reaching up to 3500mm for larger pressure-reducing valve applications.

Sizes within Range

The ecoNOMY® range incorporates all industry standard sizes and depths and can be configured to site specific depth requirements.

Load Bearing System

Available in 75mm and 150mm depths as standard, the ecoNOMY® chambers are also available in 25mm, 50mm and 100mm in certain sizes. Chambers simply interlock to form a completely load bearing unit. Chambers work in conjunction with the leading surface box and cover & frame options available on the market.

Industry Standard Sizes

The ecoNOMY® chamber system has a range of industry standard clear openings. These provide finished access chambers from 150x150mm to 1200x900mm.

We also offer a vast range of bespoke size options up to 3500x3500mm and beyond with our EasyPIT® Ultra.

How are they Built?

ecoNOMY® chambers can be assembled by utilising the interlocking chamber ring sections that are simply stacked on top of each other. This process is continued until the specified depth required on-site has been reached.

The smaller valve/hydrant chambers have been designed with a rebated top so that they positively engage with the section below. All standard small sizes are below 25 kg and as such are suitable for single person lift within manual handling regulations.
